Should Roberson Remain A Starter?
By Addam Francisco
Lately, there's been a ton of talk about whether or not Thunder guard Andre Roberson should start or not. The majority of people say that either Dion Waiters or Anthony Morrow should take his place in the lineup and have him coming off the bench.
I'll give you a few reasons why that isn't a smart idea. First of all, the 2-guard spot has always been designated as a defensive position in the starting lineup since this team moved from Seattle. It wouldn't be wise to do this either because the starting lineup right now with him on the bench would be presumably, Russell Westbrook, Enis Kanter, Serge Ibaka, Kyle Singler and Waiters all of which (for the exception of Serge,) aren't known for their defense. The Thunder need a defensive guard in the game, at least to start off. My question for everyone is who in the Thunder's starting back-court will be able to defensively lock up the opposing teams best guard? Dion is very talented, but I'm sure we can all agree that he isn't the best defensive guard on this team. Plus Waiters is the type player to come off the bench as an offensive spark for the team, resembling the role Jamal Crawford plays for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Our fans have to remember, we have one of the top offenses in the league and have to stop being greedy when it comes to points. Defense wins games and better yet, wins championships. I wouldn't change a thing and when Kevin Durant comes back the lineup we will be even more powerful as we are now.
