Thunder general manager Sam Presti spent about half an hour chatting with local reporters Monday night about what was, what might have been and the hopes of what will be in the future.
He thanked superstar Kevin Durant for his years of service and accomplishments and his professionalism.
“Of course we’re disappointed...but I think it’s important to be very grateful and thankful and I’d like to thank Kevin for not only what he did for the team and our organization but also what he did for Oklahoma.”
As far as moving forward “We have a lot of different scenarios that we plan for. We’ve never been reactionary. We’ve never been careless.”
Some of those plans may be to try to get a longterm commitment from superstar point guard Russell Westbrook but TNT’s David Aldridge reported just before Presti’s news conference he’d been told by league sources that Westbrook wasn’t interested in a renegotiation and extension of his current contract which runs out at the end of next season.
Presti said he had texted Westbrook but had not spoken to him directly and he would not reveal what was communicated between the two.
He was confident in the current group of players and in coach Billy Donovan as the Thunder moves forward.
