Durant, Singler Held Out Of Thunder Practice

By Randy Renner, Senior Writer

Neither Kevin Durant nor Kyle Singler practiced with their teammates today. KD hurt his elbow Saturday night in the win at Indiana when he fell hard to floor. He was wearing an ice wrap on his elbow when seen today. Singler didn’t play at all Saturday because of a sore back.

Head coach Billy Donovan said tests revealed “nothing structurally wrong” with the elbow but it is sore.

“We’ll see how he feels tomorrow but I don’t think it’s too serious,” Donovan said. “He did a little bit on the side but as far as the contact stuff he didn’t do anything.”

Donovan stressed that with Durant, or any of the players, “we’re always gonna put the health of those guys first,” and that’s why the team is being extra cautious.

He wouldn’t commit one way or the other about Durant’s playing status for the Rockets game but you got the feeling KD will probably be on the floor when that game tips off.

Durant was not made available to speak with reporters after practice.

Singler is another matter. Backs can be tricky and Donovan didn’t seem very confident that Singler would be able to make a go of it Tuesday night when OKC begins a big three-game homestand.

Houston is in first then Utah on Thursday and another showdown with the Spurs looms on Saturday.
