Free Agency (7-1-14 Noon Update)
By Randy Renner
A couple of interesting things in the early stages of free agency...
According to @ShamsCharania free agent Thunder shooting guard Thabo Sefolosha has been contacted by the Clippers, Mavericks, Raptors and Rockets but not the Thunder.
It's been widely speculated the Thunder would not be bring Sefolosha back to OKC but Thunder GM Sam Presti told reporters during his end of the season news conference that he and his staff would reach out all of the Thunder free agents.
Just because they haven't yet doesn't mean they won't but it remains pretty clear Thabo won't be back in a Thunder uniform.
Many media types (me included) have also speculated the Thunder probably wouldn't bring Caron Butler back either but according to TNT's David Aldridge (@daldridgetnt) the Thunder have reached out to Butler. Aldridge says the Lakers, Heat and Bulls are also talking to Butler.
Another report says the Thunder are interested in Rashard Lewis, who came up big at times during the playoffs for the Heat, Lewis also played for the Seattle SuperSonics and was dealt away to Orlando once Presti became GM when the OKC ownership group took over.
C.J. Miles, a guy who's been brought up by Thunder fans and local media as a possible target has a visit scheduled with the Indiana Pacers, no word though on any contact from the Thunder.
Anthony Morrow, another popular target as far as fans and media are concerned has been contacted by several teams but right now we're not sure if one of them is the Thunder.
Yesterday's popular rumor that Lakers free agent Pau Gasol would visit Oklahoma City hasn't been confirmed by anything that has happened today. Reporters in Los Angeles say Gasol has been contacted by the Lakers, Bulls, Mavs and Warriors but as far as we know, not the Thunder.
The Heat, Lakers, Bulls and Mavericks have been VERY active in the early going. In fact media in LA say the Lakers have called upwards of 30 players.
As usual the Thunder themselves are being very tight lipped but at times word leaks out from player reps and NBA sources that give an indication of what's going on inside the Thunder compound.
Right now it would seem to be a whole lot of not much...but as my old buddy @garyeOK always said, 'stay with us, we'll keep you advised."
