Westbrook Cleared To Play Tonight

Thunder All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook has been medically cleared to play in tonight's game with the Miami Heat.

Thunder GM Sam Presti issued a statement this afternoon saying, "we are all very excited to have Russell back."

The statement didn't indicate whether Westbrook will start the game tonight but it is assumed he will. Thunder head coach Scott Brooks will address that when he speaks to the media at 5:15.

Westbrook is expected to talk with reporters at 5:45.

Presti's statement went on to say that the team will manage Westbrook's playing time going forward and his availability in back-to-back games.

Right now it's believed the main issue is making sure Westbrook is back into game shape rather than any concern over his knee.

Westbrook has missed 30 games this season. In the 25 he played for the Thunder he averaged 21.3 points, 7.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds a game.

The Thunder did not make any trade deadline deals but got a 3-time All-Star back in the lineup.
